US Congress Warns Employees not to Install Chinese AI App DeepSeek: Report
US congressional workplaces have been alerted against setting up the Chinese AI app DeepSeek, Axios reported on Thursday, pointing out a notice provided by the chief administrative officer of the US House of Representatives.
According to Axios, the notification said, “At this time, DeepSeek is under evaluation by the CAO and is currently unapproved for official House use.”
The introduction of DeepSeek, a low-cost Chinese AI design, has raised concerns about its prospective to challenge the market supremacy of US-based AI giants like OpenAI and Alphabet’s Google.
Last week, DeepSeek presented a free AI assistant that it declares operates with lower data use and at a portion of the cost of US designs. Within days, it ended up being the most downloaded app on Apple’s App Store, fueling fret about US leadership in AI.
This development contributed to a market shake-up that around $1 trillion in value from US tech stocks.
