Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A man was spoken with by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed via the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was carried out by the department’s Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: “It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

“These kinds of products being sold, normally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their safety.

“You merely do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not know the result drugs like this might have on your health.”
